You are invited to join an adventure.
We are calling it Trudy’s Flower Notes. Trudy was an inspiring and kind person to everyone who knew her. She had a smile in her eyes to greet you, a hug to lift you up, or something positive to say about a tough situation. She taught us to see the glass half full. To see in the best in people. To believe in prayer. And, she shared practical advice that rang true long after a good talk. Here’s what we’re doing to commemorate her and inspire others through her spirit.
Leaving Flower Notes
- Get flowers in Trudy’s favorite colors. Her favorite flower was a carnation and colors were pink and yellow.
- Write a quote from Trudy on a small rectangle of paper. About 3″ by 2″ works great. Bend the corner to cut a small hole for ribbon.
- Tie a ribbon in her favorite color around each flower with the note. Favorite ribbon colors were pink, yellow, lavender, light green, white, turquoise, or light blue. It helps to first tie it onto the rose with the first loop, then string through the quote paper hole on the last loop creating the ribbon. Like tying show laces.
- Visit one of Trudy’s favorite places. Her favorite places included the park, a hiking trail, a lake (with ducks preferably!), and the ocean (Solano Beach, Del Mar, Carlsbad, Half Moon Bay were tops but any beach will do). You can also pick a place that you enjoyed together. For example, granddaughters Melonie and Bridget chose the 99 Cent Store where they loved shopping together.
- Leave flowers in spots that remind you of her. The fun part of this step is that someone will eventually find your Flower Note to be inspired with a message at the right place and right time in their life. Sign the quote “Trudy Henderson” and if you want to go further include the URL to this website so flower finders can research the story “trudyhenderson.com”.
- Share on Instagram. Spread inspiration to even more people by snapping a photo of your Flower Note and posting it to Instagram with hashtag: #TrudysFlowerNotes
If you didn’t know Trudy, that’s OK. You can take on the adventure and leave Flower Notes in memory of your own loved one.
